Full Moon in Mula nakshatra
Friday June 21, 2024 is Summer Solstice ~ Full Moon in Mula Nakshatra *all positions are sidereal
It’s the longest day of sunlight here in the northern hemisphere and a powerful full moon in Mula. Mula’s located in the densest section of the milky way as the root and origin point. Mula consists of nine stars, located at the end of the tail of the scorpion in Sagittarius. Mula as the root, the void, it’s hidden and full of mysteries, full of Shakti and connected to divine feminine energies.
The Shakti of Mula is called Barhana, which means strong or powerful, and it’s symbolized by a bunch of plants tied together at the roots. Mula’s location is in a gandanta between Scorpio and Sagittarius, the transition between water and fire. Gandantas are powerful places of churning that bring things to the surface and move us along our path. This gandanta helps us to move onto a more spiritual path while still rooted in the material. What needs to be transformed? What is hidden? What do you need to find the root of?
Rahu (the north node) is 4th from the moon in Revati nakshatra in Pisces, and is also gandanta. Another junction point of churning of the soul, a place of death and rebirth. The 4th house from the moon during this transits represents the heart, what is in the deepest place inside us. What is in your heart? What changes are happening inside you?
The Sun is opposite in the powerful nakshatra of Ardra with Venus and Mercury. It’s star is the bright, red giant called Betelgeuse. Ardra’s Shakti is Yatna Shakti and refers to making an effort to reach something, such as a goal. Ardra is associated with the stormy, fierce form of Shiva, called Rudra. This is Shiva’s stormy, transformative aspect. Here there is cleansing and purification happening, the fire and sweat of effort, and rain after a storm.
Both of these nakshatras have associations with herbal medicine, and healing. Rudra is the lord of physicians. Both share the dog as their animal (yoni). Dogs offer protection, loyalty, devotion, vigilance, guardianship.
The potent energy of this full moon brings the potential for removing things which have outlived their purpose and need to changed or be transformed. What is being released? What gems are being formed under external pressure? It’s a powerful time for journaling, contemplation, ceremony, meditation and spiritual pursuits.
