distance energy healing - research and benefits

Distance Energy Healing ~ Some Research and Benefits

by Jennifer Aquilina M.Ac.OM Dipl.Ac

By now,  you’ve probably at least heard of energy healing. Maybe you’ve experienced distance healing, are familiar with it, or open to the idea that healing is more than the physical, in-person and seen with your eyes-only. Distance healing can help us access and explore working with our energy anatomy.

Our energetic bodies intertwine with our physical and the meridians, acupoints, nadis, nawis, and chakras serve as the roadways and centers that move, center, and put us in contact with our deeper selves and new perspectives on healing. Whatever the lineage or language, many words exist to help describe this universal energy that circulates in and around us - Ki in Japanese, Qi in Chinese, Prana or Shakti in Sanskrit, Chu’lel in Maya, Poqpo in Quechua and many other languages and traditions from all over the world have this concept. It is an ancient concept that science is now beginning to see and acknowledge.

As science becomes more and more subtle through it’s exploration of the quantum realms, doors are opening that will allow us to continue to evolve our understanding of subtle energies and how this relates at a deeper level to how our bodies respond physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually in healing ways.

Surveys and meta-analysis of research that looked at numerous studies on distance healing and energy healing consistently echoed positive effects that warrant further studies. (1)

Intention is important

Different effects were seen when intent was changed in these studies. Non-focused thought did not have an effect and a heart-focused intent was common with all different types of energy healers.

“Results indicated that different biological effects could be observed by just changing the intent or the imagery associated with the healing process but non-focused thought had no effect.”  (3)

Some research suggests DNA can be influenced through energy healing.  Intention could influence DNA replication, it’s electrical properties, and potentially imply the potential to effect change on the genetic code. (3)  What this means is that the possibilities for healing are immense and are even at the physical level able to shift something as primary as cells and DNA.

As further research into quantum physics and subtle realms, non-visible and visible light spectrum, sound and vibration, biofield therapies and other energy based modalities continues, we will be able to understand more deeply how our physical body and cells shift in response to subtle inputs.

Effects and the Future of Energy Healing

In some research, effects manifested as changes in physiological measures. (2)   Improvement in patient outcomes was seen, with the implications of distance and energy healing to “improve health and healing are vast, deep, and perennially intriguing.” (2, 4)

Throughout studies and personal experiences, clients and participants tend to be surprised at what they see, sense and feel during distance energy healing.  From intense periods of meaningful and specific dreams to very physical body sensations related to healing, cathartic emotional releases, colors, and memories are some of the things described. A deep feeling of calm is also often reported by clients during sessions.

There are more and more books and studies coming out describing the science of what we currently know about distance healing and energy healing. (6)  As we open our minds to the possibilities, we can move further and further into the expanses of healing.
